The Chains of Domination 9.1 update introduces Korthia, the mysterious City of Secrets, as a pivotal new zone in WoW Shadowlands. This fallen realm, once part of the In-Between, now lies trapped within the Maw’s oppressive grasp.

Korthia offers challenging new content including special mounts, story progression, and unique rewards that advance your fight against the Jailer.

As the narrative heart of the 9.1 update, Korthia connects directly to Torghast and the Maw’s evolving storyline. Players will discover ancient secrets while navigating its dangerous terrain and completing critical campaign quests.

How to Unlock Korthia

Gaining access to Korthia requires progressing through specific Chains of Domination campaign chapters. While visible from the Maw’s Beastwarren area, the zone remains inactive until completing key quests.

Prerequisites:

• Complete Shadowlands Chapter 2: Torghast from your Covenant Campaign
• Reach level 60 and have access to the Maw

Unlock Process:

1. Finish Opening the Maw and Link to the Maw quests
2. Speak with Ve’nari in the Maw
3. Use the Animaflow Teleporter when prompted
4. Follow Ve’nari to Korthia’s entrance

After initial access, complete Opening to Oribos to establish permanent travel routes. Chapter 3’s Ease of Passage quest unlocks additional teleporters for convenient return trips.

Flying & Mounts in Korthia

While Shadowlands finally introduced flying in patch 9.1, Korthia maintains special mount restrictions tied to story progression.

Mount Mechanics:

• Standard mounts remain restricted until completing Chapter 2’s True Effects of the Maw Walker
• Special mounts like the Dusklight Razorwing bypass these limitations
• Razorwing eggs spawn in specific locations, requiring careful exploration

Pro Tip: Combine mount collection with daily quests in Korthia to efficiently gather eggs while completing other objectives.

Alternate Account Access

Players with alternate characters can expedite Korthia access after completing specific campaign milestones on their main account.

Skip Requirements:

• Main character must finish Chapter 3: Focusing the Eye
• Alts must be level 60 and have basic Maw access

Skip Process:

1. Visit Bolvar Fordragon in Oribos
2. Begin the 9.1 Covenant Campaign
3. Select the dialogue option “I have heard this tale before”
4. Start directly at Korthia Awaits quest

Note: This skips only the Chains of Domination storyline, not previous Shadowlands requirements.

Shaping Fate: Assault Supply Carriage

The Assault Supply Carriage quest presents one of Korthia’s most challenging combat encounters, requiring preparation and strategy to overcome.
