WoW cosplayer rules over Stormwind as fearsome Turalyon

Austrian cosplayer Danny McFly brings World of Warcraft’s Turalyon to life with 200+ hours of hand-painted craftsmanship

Bringing Azeroth’s Commander to Reality

World of Warcraft enthusiasts are witnessing an extraordinary transformation as the Alliance’s legendary commander Turalyon steps out from Azeroth into our world through breathtaking cosplay artistry.

The formidable Alliance champion and Stormwind’s current ruler, Turalyon, materializes in stunning detail through this exceptional World of Warcraft costume creation.

While cosplay communities frequently showcase impressive interpretations of popular figures like Sylvanas Windrunner or Alexstrasza, the regent of Stormwind and Alliance commander Turalyon has remained surprisingly underrepresented. Governing the Alliance following Anduin Wrynn’s corruption by the Jailer, his presence in Shadowlands has been limited, though players anticipate his crucial role in the Eternity’s End 9.2 finale. Austrian artist Danny McFly addresses this gap with his breathtaking Turalyon interpretation that captures the character’s essence perfectly.

Turalyon captured Alliance adventurers’ admiration throughout the memorable Legion expansion storyline.

While characters like The Jailer or Anduin Wrynn might appear as obvious choices given their Shadowlands prominence, Danny deliberately chose to revitalize the High Exarch. “I selected this character following my previous major Batman costume because I sought a demanding project, and as someone who’s played World of Warcraft intermittently for years, Turalyon caught my eye,” he explained to Dexerto. “The costume features numerous exquisite details, and the character possesses an engaging history, making it an ideal selection.”

  • Constructing Turalyon’s battle armor provided Danny with artistic redemption and skill refinement. “When Blizzard unveiled the design, I immediately wanted to construct it. My previous Warcraft cosplay featuring Varian had some execution aspects I wasn’t satisfied with, particularly the paint application, so this presented an excellent opportunity to enhance my painting techniques.” The finished cosplay reveals no evidence of previous painting challenges! Meticulous craftsmanship shines through every element, from the elaborate brass embellishments to the golden accents decorating the gunmetal grey armor foundation. Flowing silver locks frame his battle-worn, bearded countenance, radiating the authority expected from Stormwind’s sovereign leader.

Danny clarifies that “I wouldn’t characterize it as ‘more challenging’ than my other endeavors,” but acknowledges it “became by far the most time-intensive project, given the extensive surface area requiring hand-painting, which consumed well over 200 hours (a figure I know precisely because I broadcasted the entire process to preserve my mental wellbeing!)”

The tremendous effort clearly yielded outstanding results, earning recognition from cosplay royalty Kamui Cosplay (creator of the remarkable Diablo Brigitte costume), who exclaimed “wow, this costume represents pure artistry! Next-Level Cosplay Ambitions

Danny confirms that he intends “to create additional Blizzard Characters moving forward,” though he indicates potential delays. “Both Thrall and Illidan remain on my project roster, but I need to incorporate diversity to maintain creative freshness.” Enthusiasts eagerly anticipate Danny’s interpretation of these iconic World of Warcraft personalities, especially considering the exceptional quality demonstrated in his Turalyon portrayal.

Advanced Cosplay Painting Techniques: For aspiring cosplayers tackling intricate armor projects, consider using layered painting methods. Start with base coats, add weathering effects with sponge techniques, and finish with precise hand-brushed details. Quality synthetic brushes in multiple sizes will help achieve the crisp lines seen in Danny’s Turalyon armor.

Common Armor Construction Mistakes: Many beginners underestimate structural integrity needs. Always build a solid foundation before adding decorative elements. Test mobility extensively during construction phases to avoid restrictive final pieces that limit posing capabilities at events.
