Master the hunt for Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus in Hisui with advanced strategies and post-game quest completion.
Unlocking the Forces of Nature Quest
The legendary Forces of Nature trio—Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus—are a formidable post-game challenge in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Accessing them is not immediate and requires specific progression milestones.
Your first step is to finish the main storyline and complete Mission 26: Seeking the Remaining Plates. This mission is a gateway to the endgame content, signaling that the world of Hisui is fully open for exploration.
Once the credits roll, return to the Team Galaxy HQ in Jubilife Village. Seek out the researcher Cogito, who will present you with Request 94: Incarnate Formes of Hisui. Accepting this request is the trigger that allows the three Legendaries to spawn in the wild. However, Cogito’s hints are deliberately vague, and each ‘mon has strict, hidden spawn conditions that make pinpointing them a true test of a trainer’s skill.
Landorus: Obsidian Fieldlands Hunt
Landorus makes its home in the Obsidian Fieldlands, but it won’t appear just anywhere. Unlike its siblings, it requires clear, calm weather—no special storms needed.
Follow this precise route for the best chance of encounter:
Pro Tip: If the tornado isn’t immediately visible, Landorus may have moved slightly. Circle the entire perimeter of Ramanas Island at a low altitude. It often gets stuck on the island’s western rock formations.
Thundurus: Cobalt Coastlands Challenge
The electric menace, Thundurus, lurks in the Cobalt Coastlands. Its appearance is locked behind a specific and volatile weather condition: a full-blown thunderstorm. Light rain or overcast skies will not suffice.
To force the weather to change, travel to any campsite in the Coastlands. Use the rest function and cycle between day and night. Watch the sky and listen for thunderclaps. A reliable way to confirm a thunderstorm is active is to open your map—the weather icon in the upper-left corner must display a cloud with a bold lightning bolt through it.
With the storm raging, your hunt begins:
Common Mistake: Many trainers waste time searching during simple rainstorms. The lightning bolt on the map icon is non-negotiable. If you don’t see it, keep resting and cycling.
Tornadus: Alabaster Icelands Blizzard
The final member of the trio, Tornadus, is bound to the frozen Alabaster Icelands. It embodies the harsh climate, appearing only during a fierce blizzard. Gentle snowfall, like the rain for Thundurus, will not trigger its spawn.
Manipulate the weather using the same campsite method. Rest and cycle time until you see heavy snow and hear howling winds. Verify the blizzard on your map by checking for the icon showing swirling snow and wind.
Optimization Tip: Blizzards can be rare. If one starts, save your game manually at the camp before you start flying. If you fail to find or catch Tornadus, you can reset to retain the blizzard weather instead of waiting for another one.
Advanced Capture Strategies for the Trio
The Forces of Nature are arguably the most difficult captures in Legends: Arceus. They are constantly moving, attack with damaging tornadoes, and are protected by a persistent shield that deflects Poké Balls. A head-on assault is almost guaranteed to fail.
The proven strategy is a stealthy, surgical approach:
Inside the battle, your goal is to wear it down. Use moves that won’t knock it out, aiming to get its health bar into the yellow or red. Status conditions like Paralysis or Sleep greatly increase catch rates. Once weakened, throw Ultra Balls or even Gigaton Balls. If it breaks free, stay calm, keep your Pokémon healed, and persist. It may take numerous attempts.
Advanced Tactic: For an even higher catch chance, use a Pokémon with the move False Swipe to safely reduce its HP to 1, then immediately inflict a status condition before throwing your best ball.
Unlocking Therian Formes & The Reveal Glass
Catching the trio is only half the journey. To access their more powerful Therian Formes, you must first achieve Research Level 10 for each in your Pokédex.
The fastest method is to add them to your party and repeatedly use their signature moves in wild battles. Don’t forget to employ Agile and Strong Styles to fulfill more research tasks quickly. Once all three entries are complete, report to Professor Laventon in Jubilife Village.
Congratulations on completing one of Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘s most extensive and rewarding post-game quests. You’ve not only mastered the capture of these elusive Legendaries but also unlocked their ultimate forms, adding immense power to your team.
