Where to find Landorus, Thundurus & Tornadus in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Master the hunt for Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus in Hisui with advanced strategies and post-game quest completion.

Unlocking the Forces of Nature Quest

The legendary Forces of Nature trio—Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus—are a formidable post-game challenge in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Accessing them is not immediate and requires specific progression milestones.

Your first step is to finish the main storyline and complete Mission 26: Seeking the Remaining Plates. This mission is a gateway to the endgame content, signaling that the world of Hisui is fully open for exploration.

Once the credits roll, return to the Team Galaxy HQ in Jubilife Village. Seek out the researcher Cogito, who will present you with Request 94: Incarnate Formes of Hisui. Accepting this request is the trigger that allows the three Legendaries to spawn in the wild. However, Cogito’s hints are deliberately vague, and each ‘mon has strict, hidden spawn conditions that make pinpointing them a true test of a trainer’s skill.

Landorus: Obsidian Fieldlands Hunt

Landorus makes its home in the Obsidian Fieldlands, but it won’t appear just anywhere. Unlike its siblings, it requires clear, calm weather—no special storms needed.

Follow this precise route for the best chance of encounter:

  • Begin your journey at the Heights Camp waypoint, the central hub of the Fieldlands.
  • Summon your Braviary mount and chart a course directly south. Your target is the isolated Ramanas Island at the map’s southern edge.
  • As you soar above the island, scan the terrain below for a distinctive, rapidly spinning vortex of wind. This is Landorus’s signature tornado.
  • Descend carefully near the vortex. Landorus will be at its center, but beware—it is highly aggressive and will attack on sight.
  • Pro Tip: If the tornado isn’t immediately visible, Landorus may have moved slightly. Circle the entire perimeter of Ramanas Island at a low altitude. It often gets stuck on the island’s western rock formations.

    Thundurus: Cobalt Coastlands Challenge

The electric menace, Thundurus, lurks in the Cobalt Coastlands. Its appearance is locked behind a specific and volatile weather condition: a full-blown thunderstorm. Light rain or overcast skies will not suffice.

To force the weather to change, travel to any campsite in the Coastlands. Use the rest function and cycle between day and night. Watch the sky and listen for thunderclaps. A reliable way to confirm a thunderstorm is active is to open your map—the weather icon in the upper-left corner must display a cloud with a bold lightning bolt through it.

  • With the storm raging, your hunt begins:

  • From a camp, mount Braviary and fly east to the Sands Reach peninsula.
  • From Sands Reach, look north across the water. You’ll see two immense, horn-like stone pillars jutting from the sea. These are your primary landmarks.
  • Fly just beyond these pillars and hover over the open ocean. Search for a lone tornado skimming violently across the waves. This is Thundurus.
  • Execute a careful descent onto the water’s surface to initiate the encounter.
  • Common Mistake: Many trainers waste time searching during simple rainstorms. The lightning bolt on the map icon is non-negotiable. If you don’t see it, keep resting and cycling.

    Tornadus: Alabaster Icelands Blizzard

The final member of the trio, Tornadus, is bound to the frozen Alabaster Icelands. It embodies the harsh climate, appearing only during a fierce blizzard. Gentle snowfall, like the rain for Thundurus, will not trigger its spawn.

Manipulate the weather using the same campsite method. Rest and cycle time until you see heavy snow and hear howling winds. Verify the blizzard on your map by checking for the icon showing swirling snow and wind.

  • From the Icelands’ main base camp, take flight with Braviary and head north towards the Bonechill Wastes.
  • This area is your search zone. Tornadus’s tornado is often difficult to spot against the whiteout conditions of a blizzard.
  • Hover and patrol the Wastes systematically. Look for a chaotic vortex whipping up snow in a distinct circular pattern.
  • While Tornadus can patrol a wider area, it frequently circles a particular large, solitary rock formation in the central part of the Wastes. Starting your search there is efficient.
  • Optimization Tip: Blizzards can be rare. If one starts, save your game manually at the camp before you start flying. If you fail to find or catch Tornadus, you can reset to retain the blizzard weather instead of waiting for another one.

Advanced Capture Strategies for the Trio

The Forces of Nature are arguably the most difficult captures in Legends: Arceus. They are constantly moving, attack with damaging tornadoes, and are protected by a persistent shield that deflects Poké Balls. A head-on assault is almost guaranteed to fail.

The proven strategy is a stealthy, surgical approach:

  • Use Braviary to approach from a high altitude and land at a safe distance behind your target. Positioning is critical.
  • Immediately use a Stealth Spray. You can craft this essential item with 1 Hopo Berry and 3 Bugworts. It muffles your movement sound.
  • After applying the spray, crouch and advance slowly, directly towards the Legendary’s back. Avoid its line of sight.
  • When in range, throw your Pokémon at its back. This direct hit will shatter its protective shield and stun it briefly.
  • Follow up instantly by throwing a Pokémon at it again to enter a battle.
  • Inside the battle, your goal is to wear it down. Use moves that won’t knock it out, aiming to get its health bar into the yellow or red. Status conditions like Paralysis or Sleep greatly increase catch rates. Once weakened, throw Ultra Balls or even Gigaton Balls. If it breaks free, stay calm, keep your Pokémon healed, and persist. It may take numerous attempts.

Advanced Tactic: For an even higher catch chance, use a Pokémon with the move False Swipe to safely reduce its HP to 1, then immediately inflict a status condition before throwing your best ball.

Unlocking Therian Formes & The Reveal Glass

Catching the trio is only half the journey. To access their more powerful Therian Formes, you must first achieve Research Level 10 for each in your Pokédex.

The fastest method is to add them to your party and repeatedly use their signature moves in wild battles. Don’t forget to employ Agile and Strong Styles to fulfill more research tasks quickly. Once all three entries are complete, report to Professor Laventon in Jubilife Village.

  • Speak to Professor Laventon to finalize the Pokédex entries for Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus.
  • With the trio registered, journey to the Ancient Retreat and speak with Cogito once more. She will now assign you Request 95, a quest to find and catch the new Fairy-type genie, Enamorus.
  • After successfully capturing Enamorus and also raising its Pokédex entry to Level 10, speak to Cogito a final time.
  • Having collected all four Forces of Nature, Cogito will reward you with the Reveal Glass. This Key Item holds the power to change their forms.
  • Open your menu, navigate to the Key Items pocket, and use the Reveal Glass on each of the four genies. This will transform them into their formidable Therian Formes.
  • The transformation is reversible. Simply use the Reveal Glass on a Therian Forme genie to revert it to its Incarnate Forme.
  • Congratulations on completing one of Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘s most extensive and rewarding post-game quests. You’ve not only mastered the capture of these elusive Legendaries but also unlocked their ultimate forms, adding immense power to your team.
