Warzone April 19 update: Sykov nerfs, sniper fixes, and RC-XD changes explained
Update Overview
Raven Software has deployed a crucial balance patch for Warzone ahead of the anticipated Season 3 update, addressing several pressing community concerns.
The April 19 update brings significant weapon tuning, particularly targeting the overpowered Sykov pistol, while also resolving long-standing sniper scope visibility issues and adjusting killstreak availability.
Originally expected to arrive with Season 3 on April 21, these critical fixes were pushed early following widespread player feedback about game balance issues.
While not comprehensive, this update makes meaningful adjustments that will immediately impact the current meta, particularly reducing the dominance of certain weapon configurations.
Weapon Balance Changes
The Sykov pistol, introduced just four days prior on April 15, has been significantly rebalanced following its overwhelming performance in matches.
This sidearm became notorious for its devastating combination of full-auto fire, akimbo capability, and 80-round magazines, creating an unbalanced close-quarters powerhouse.
The update introduces multiple adjustments: increased hip fire spread with full-auto, reduced movement speed with akimbo and drum mags, and a substantial 25% damage penalty when combining full-auto with 80-round drums.
❗️ Important Note: The damage reduction only applies when using both the Sorokin 140mm Auto barrel and 80 Round Drums together.
Additionally, Modern Warfare sniper rifles now properly display scope glint, addressing a visibility issue that gave users an unfair advantage in long-range engagements.
Gameplay Adjustments
RC-XD killstreaks have been removed from standard Buy Stations and are now exclusively available through Containment Monitors, changing acquisition strategies.
Several quality-of-life improvements were implemented, including fixes for armor plate equipping issues, loadout drop collisions, and gas circle behavior in King Slayer Trios.
