The Unlikely Path to Finals
The Dallas victory launched RØKKR into the Winner’s Final against Stage 2 champions Toronto Ultra. Despite the teams’ rivalry, dubbed ‘The Battle for the North’, Toronto maintained an undefeated 4-0 record against Minnesota in previous encounters.
This dominance ended abruptly as RØKKR delivered a stunning 3-0 shutout against Ultra, advancing to the Stage 5 Major Grand Final. However, Toronto sought redemption by defeating OpTic Chicago in the Loser’s Final, setting up a championship rematch against Minnesota.
“Our preparation suffered before the finals because other teams had completed their matches,” Attach explained. “Toronto competed against OpTic in the loser’s bracket while we conducted a suboptimal 3v3 raid practice session with our coaches, which failed to properly warm up our communication and coordination.”
Toronto established immediate dominance in the final’s opening map, securing a lopsided 250-34 victory.
The pressure intensified for RØKKR as they dropped maps two and three with similar decisiveness. Although they demonstrated competitive resilience in map four, the eventual defeat placed them in a statistically improbable position to recover.

“When facing such overwhelming odds, the pressure evaporates because you’ve got nothing left to lose,” Attach described. “We adopted the mindset of simply executing our gameplay without reservations. Our team excelled at Miami Search and Destroy, so we focused on securing that single map victory to build momentum from there.”
RØKKR demonstrated their Miami proficiency by securing a hard-earned 6-3 win.
“During a bathroom break between matches, we reassured each other to maintain composure and enjoy the moment,” Standy recalled. “We agreed that if defeat came, we’d go down fighting with maximum effort and no regrets about our performance.”
Toronto appeared increasingly helpless as RØKKR mounted their unprecedented comeback sequence.
The map eight victory transformed the Grand Final into an improbable deciding ninth map that few anticipated an hour earlier. The final confrontation would occur on Raid Search and Destroy, presenting mixed prospects for RØKKR. While they held a 2-1 record in Search and Destroy rounds during the Final, they simultaneously carried an 0-2 record specifically on Raid.
Standy initiated the final round with a critical double elimination that gave RØKKR the early advantage. He extended their lead to 2-0 with a triple elimination in the subsequent round. Minnesota built their advantage to 4-1 before Toronto mounted a brief resurgence with two clutch rounds, narrowing the score to 4-3. This marked Toronto’s final victory in Stage 5 as another crucial double elimination from Standy pushed RØKKR to 5-3, followed by successfully preventing the bomb plant from Toronto’s Tobias ‘CleanX’ Jønsson to complete their impossible mission.

“Teammates continuously joked with me about my reverse sweep history, mentioning I’ve completed BO3, BO5, BO7, and now BO9 reverse sweeps,” Standy remarked. “They suggested tournament organizers might introduce BO11 formats where I’d need to overcome 0-5 deficits. I responded that such scenarios would test my cardiovascular endurance, but I’d willingly accept the challenge.”
