Chance ‘Sodapoppin’ Morris, one of Twitch’s most recognizable personalities, first hinted at stepping back from Rust in mid-January. His January 18 tweet revealed: “I don’t feel like streaming Rust at the moment… they made it a drop for mostly everyone’s channel since I have no interest in streaming Rust.” This followed the launch of custom skins for his group.

Vigors, another core member of The Kittens, echoed these sentiments hours later, suggesting more members might follow suit. Their group became known for finishing every sentence with “meow” – a quirky trademark that became synonymous with their server presence.

Since their Rust hiatus, both streamers have maintained active broadcasting schedules. Sodapoppin has revisited VRChat (even introducing his father to the platform) while exploring other multiplayer titles. This shift reflects a common pattern where streamers cycle through trending games based on audience engagement and personal interest.
While no official return date has been announced, the nature of streaming trends suggests The Kittens might revisit Rust when fresh content updates or server resets occur. However, as Vigors noted in his departure tweet: “Who knows what we’ll be playing next month? Meow.”
