Rainbow Six: Siege ventures into post-apocalyptic territory with its Apocalypse event, introducing a radical new limited-time mode set on a devastated version of Outback.
Ubisoft continues to push creative boundaries with seasonal events, following up the whimsical Rainbow is Magic with this gritty survival scenario. The nuclear-wasteland setting completely transforms the familiar Outback map, creating fresh tactical challenges.
The devastated environment features contaminated water sources, poisoned air, and destroyed vegetation – with one crucial exception. A single surviving plant becomes the focal point of conflict between two factions: The Keepers (seeking to rebuild civilization) and The Warband (fighting for immediate survival).
Gameplay Mechanics
While structurally similar to bomb mode, the plant objective introduces dynamic gameplay changes. Attackers gain access to scanner rooms that reveal defender positions, while defenders can relocate the plant within its protective container.
Pro Tip: Time your scanner activations with planned pushes, and watch for audio cues when defenders move the plant. The container’s movement creates temporary vulnerability windows that skilled attackers can exploit.
Common Mistake: Defenders often overcommit to plant movement, leaving other map control points undefended. Maintain balanced positioning to prevent attackers from gaining map dominance during relocations.
Cosmetics and Rewards
The event brings 35 new cosmetic items including faction-themed weapon skins, radioactive charm designs, and survivalist operator outfits. Operator Bundles (1680 R6 Credits) offer guaranteed specific items, while Apocalypse Packs (300 R6 Credits/12,500 Renown) provide random rewards.
Value Tip: Prioritize bundles for must-have items, then use renown for packs if you want to complete your collection. The Warband-themed weapon skins particularly stand out with their rusted metal and hazard stripe designs.
Event Duration and Tips
The Apocalypse event runs from May 4 to May 18, giving players two weeks to experience the new mode and collect cosmetics.
