Therian Forme Raid Guide: Catch Tornadus & Landorus in Pokemon Go April 2021

Therian Forme Debut Overview

The Forces of Nature trio from Pokemon Black and White receive their Therian Forme debuts in Pokemon Go’s April 2021 raid cycle, marking a significant milestone for Gen V enthusiasts.

April’s raid rotation introduces Therian Forme Tornadus and Landorus, with their Incarnate versions appearing in a special finale event.

Following March’s Season of Legends launch, these alternate forms bring fresh challenges to 5-star raids. The Therian Formes feature distinct typings and stat distributions from their Incarnate counterparts, requiring adjusted battle strategies.

Complete April Raid Schedule

Therian Forme Availability

Therian Forme Tornadus storms into raids first on March 30 at 10:00 AM, remaining until April 13 at 10:00 AM local time. Landorus’ Therian Forme follows immediately, running from April 13 at 10:00 AM through April 27 at 10:00 AM.

Incarnate Forme Special Day

On April 27 at 10:00 AM, all three Incarnate Formes (Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus) will appear simultaneously for a limited 24-hour period. This presents the best opportunity to complete your Forces of Nature collection.

Mega Raid Rotation

  • Mega Houndoom/Manectric/Abomasnow: April 1-4
  • Surprise Mega: April 4 (all month)
  • Mega Gengar/Manectric: April 5-20
  • Mega Venusaur/Abomasnow: Starting April 20

The Mega rotation provides diverse opportunities to collect Mega Energy throughout April, with Venusaur and Abomasnow being particularly valuable for upcoming events.

Catching Strategies & Team Building

Optimal Counters

For Therian Forme Tornadus (Pure Flying-type):

  • Rock-types: Rampardos, Rhyperior with Rock Wrecker
  • Electric-types: Zekrom, Raikou with Wild Charge
  • Ice-types: Mamoswine with Avalanche

Weather Boosts

Windy weather boosts Tornadus’ Flying-type moves, while Sunny/Clear weather strengthens Landorus’ Ground-type attacks. Plan raid timing accordingly to either exploit or avoid these boosts.

Group Size Recommendations

While veteran trainers can duo these raids with perfect counters, we recommend:

  • 3-4 trainers with optimal level 40 counters
  • 5-6 trainers with mixed level 30-35 teams
  • Always include 1-2 trainers with Mega Evolved counters

Avoiding Common Raid Pitfalls

Mistake #1: Using the wrong forme’s counters – Therian Landorus is Ground/Flying (weak to Ice/Water) versus Incarnate’s Ground-type (weak to Water/Grass).

Mistake #2: Wasting premium passes on low-IV encounters – check the CP range (2161-2250 for weather boosted) before using paid items.

Mistake #3: Neglecting Mega Evolutions – having one active provides a 30% damage boost to all trainers’ same-type attacks.

Pro Tip: Stock up on Golden Razz Berries from lower-tier raids to maximize catch chances on these limited-time legendaries.
