Comprehensive breakdown of Payday 3’s major 1.1.1 update with performance improvements, new features, and gameplay enhancements
Introduction: The Major Update Players Requested
Payday 3’s substantial 1.1.1 update arrives as a direct response to community feedback, delivering crucial improvements that address player concerns since launch. This comprehensive patch represents Starbreeze’s ongoing commitment to refining the cooperative heist experience.
The 1.1.1 update brings transformative changes including DirectX 12 implementation, controller customization options, and the highly requested lobby unready function that players have been demanding for months.
Following significant player feedback that prompted developer Starbreeze to establish a dedicated strike team, this update implements portions of the recently revealed development roadmap. The team has prioritized addressing core gameplay issues while laying groundwork for future features like offline mode and server browsers.
Arriving two months after the previous patch, Update 1.1.1 incorporates numerous enhancements that have topped community wishlists since the game’s initial release. The development team has focused on both immediate quality-of-life improvements and long-term technical foundations.
Notable additions include the essential unready button for lobby management, comprehensive DirectX 12 integration, and DLSS support for PC players. These changes reflect the developers’ understanding of both technical and social gameplay requirements.
The complete Payday 3 version 1.1.1 patch notes are now live across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 platforms. Download sizes vary by platform, with consoles requiring approximately 3GB and PC installations around 6GB due to additional graphical components.

Performance Tip: Players with Nvidia RTX cards should enable DLSS for optimal performance, while those experiencing stability issues can revert to DX11 using launch parameters. The ‘Set Recommended Settings’ feature in video options automatically configures ideal settings based on your hardware specifications.
Common Issue: A rare conflict exists between DX12 and Nvidia’s Instant Replay feature that may cause system locks during alt-tabbing or display mode changes. Temporarily disabling Instant Replay resolves this while developers work on a permanent solution.

- “Disengage sees a lot of use, but after the once-per-heist effect is over, it feels like a wasted skill point. With this change, we want it to still have an impact” -Mio

Tweaked so that the Dozer can now close the distance to the player and kick them when otherwise blocked by other actions such as players hiding behind civilians or charge being on cooldown. Improved Cloaker sneaking to be more reliable
Enemy Strategy: Techies now present a more consistent threat with improved AI behavior. Focus them quickly as they drop valuable armor repair kits, but beware their increased tactical positioning and drone support.
Combat Tip: Dozers gained new offensive capabilities with their kick attack. Maintain distance and use cover effectively, as successful kicks reduce their ability cooldowns, potentially creating dangerous attack chains.
