Overwatch’s Bastion joins the LAPD with an insane skin concept

LAPD Bastion skin concept reimagines Overwatch’s robot hero as law enforcement

The LAPD Bastion Concept

While Bastion may not be the most popular Overwatch hero, concept artist Jarold Sng has transformed the robotic character into an impressive law enforcement unit that deserves attention. The LAPD-themed skin gives Bastion a complete police makeover that could easily pass as official in-game content.

This isn’t the first police skin in Overwatch – D.Va and Brigitte already have officer variants – but it’s the first serious attempt to reimagine Bastion as part of law enforcement.

Sng’s design features meticulous details including a crisp white paint job with ‘POLICE’ markings on the arms and legs, functioning shoulder sirens in classic red and blue, and a serial number placement mimicking a human officer’s badge. The concept art presents Bastion in an urban environment that makes the transformation particularly convincing.

Bastion’s Role in Overwatch

Bastion occupies a unique space in Overwatch’s roster – often overlooked in regular play but frequently appearing as a last-resort pick when matches turn desperate. This perception might change with the character’s upcoming rework in Overwatch 2, which promises significant gameplay adjustments.

The redesign could make this LAPD concept particularly timely. As Blizzard moves away from what they call ‘oddball’ heroes, Bastion’s potential transformation into a more mainstream pick might justify adding such thematic skins. The police aesthetic could complement new abilities that emphasize tactical positioning and area control.

Police-Themed Skins in Overwatch

Overwatch already features several police-inspired skins, most notably for support hero Brigitte and tank character D.Va. These designs typically incorporate standard police blues or tactical gear, making Sng’s white-and-siren approach for Bastion a fresh take on the theme.

Bastion actually makes an ideal candidate for law enforcement theming. As an omnic originally designed for combat, the character’s heavy weaponry and armored form naturally translate to a SWAT or special forces aesthetic. The LAPD concept takes this further by emphasizing the peacekeeping potential of Bastion’s design rather than its wartime origins.
