Ultimate FIFA 21 Icon Swaps Guide: Strategies, Rewards & Time-Saving Tips

Introduction to Icon Swaps

FIFA 21’s Icon Swaps program offers players a unique opportunity to acquire legendary player cards without spending coins or FIFA Points. This third iteration builds on previous successful promotions with an expanded selection of Icons and more strategic reward options.

The current Icon Swaps event runs through Season 7, with nine additional tokens becoming available on June 21st. Players can combine these with previously earned tokens to unlock premium rewards.

Unlike traditional pack openings, Icon Swaps provides guaranteed elite players through a token system. This makes it particularly valuable for building competitive squads without relying on pack luck. The program requires significant time investment but offers some of the best value in Ultimate Team.

Available Icons and Token Requirements

The current Icon Swaps selection includes midfield maestros, defensive stalwarts, and attacking legends. Here’s the complete list of available Icons with their token costs:

  • Patrick Vieira 91 CM – 17 Tokens (Prime Icon)
  • Rio Ferdinand 91 CB – 15 Tokens (Icon Moments)
  • Ferenc Puskas 94 CDM – 13 Tokens (Prime Icon)
  • George Best 93 RW – 11 Tokens (Prime Icon)
  • Hristo Stoichkov 93 ST – 8 Tokens (Icon Moments)
  • Bastian Schweinsteiger 92 CDM – 6 Tokens (Icon Moments)
  • When choosing which Icons to target, consider both your squad needs and the time investment required. The 17-token Patrick Vieira represents the ultimate prize but requires nearly double the effort of the 8-token Stoichkov. Budget-conscious players should note that multiple lower-cost Icons can be obtained for the same token total as one premium option.

    Complete Objectives List

    General Icon Swaps Objectives

  • Win 7 Squad Battles matches on minimum World Class difficulty with 11 Silvers players in your starting squad
  • Win 7 Squad Battles matches on minimum World Class difficulty with 11 UCL players in your starting squad
  • Win 7 Squad Battles matches on minimum World Class difficulty with 11 Argentina players in your starting squad
  • Win 7 Squad Battles matches on minimum World Class difficulty with 11 Brazil players in your starting squad
  • Win 15 Weekend League matches
  • Score in 20 separate Rivals matches using First Owned players
  • Win 4 matches in the Live FUT Friendly: One League, with at least 8 First Owned Premier League players in your starting squad
  • Score using Finesse shots in 6 separate matches using Premier League players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League, with at least 8 First Owned Premier League players in your starting squad
  • Assist in 10 separate matches using Premier League players in the Live FUT Friendly: One League, with at least 8 First Owned Premier League players in your starting squad
  • Pro Tip: Focus on objectives that overlap requirements. For example, use Argentinian silver players to complete multiple objectives simultaneously. The Weekend League matches count toward both Icon Swaps and regular Weekend League rewards.

    Reward Packs and Exchange Options

Beyond individual Icons, players can exchange tokens for high-value packs:

  • 81+ X25 Pack: 1 Token (25 players rated 81+)
  • 83+ X25 Pack: 2 Tokens (25 players rated 83+)
  • 84+ X20 Pack: 3 Tokens (20 players rated 84+)
  • Icon Moments Pack: 5 Tokens (Random Icon Moments player)
  • 92+ Icon Moments Pack: 7 Tokens (92+ Attacker/Midfielder)
  • 92+ Prime Icon Player Pick: 9 Tokens (Choice of 3 92+ Icons)
  • The pack options provide excellent squad-building opportunities, especially early in the game cycle. The 81+ and 83+ packs are particularly valuable for filling out squads with quality players. However, the random nature of the Icon Moments pack makes it a higher-risk option compared to targeted Icon selections.

    Pro Strategies and Community Tips

The FIFA community has developed efficient methods for completing Icon Swaps objectives. The most popular strategy involves a ‘first goal conceding’ agreement in Live Friendlies:

    1. If your opponent scores first, immediately concede the match
    2. When you score first, your opponent should concede
    3. This creates a win-win scenario that halves the time required

    Important Notes:
    – This only works in Live FUT Friendlies, not Squad Battles
    – Not all players follow this etiquette
    – EA hasn’t officially endorsed this method

For Squad Battles, set difficulty to World Class (not higher) and use squad fitness cards to maintain your silver/theme teams. Sub on your best players after kickoff to make matches easier while still meeting requirements.
