Bungie making Destiny 2’s Raids & Dungeons easier to farm than ever

Destiny 2 doubles raid and dungeon farming options with new Episode: Revenant feature changes

The Loot Grind Reality

At its core, Destiny 2 revolves around the relentless pursuit of superior gear and optimal loadouts. Guardians constantly chase after perfectly rolled weapons, exotic class items, and armor with ideal stat distributions to power their most effective builds.

The most coveted equipment typically resides within Destiny 2’s most demanding PvE encounters—raids and dungeons that represent the absolute peak of cooperative gameplay. These complex activities demand precise team coordination, quick strategic thinking, and mechanical mastery while combating relentless enemy assaults.

Current systems impose significant limitations on farming efficiency. After completing a raid or dungeon once per character each week, Guardians face reward lockouts. The exception remains the single featured dungeon and raid that rotate weekly, creating bottlenecks for players targeting specific gear.

Episode: Revenant Game-Changer

Bungie’s September 5 TWID announcement revealed transformative changes coming with Episode: Revenant’s October 8 launch. The developer is implementing a second featured dungeon and raid in the weekly rotation, effectively doubling farming options.

“Community feedback highlighted the frustration around limited reward acquisition windows when specific raids or dungeons weren’t featured,” Bungie explained. “This drove our decision to expand rotation options starting with Episode: Revenant’s debut.”

The practical implementation means Guardians won’t face the previous either/or scenario. Instead of choosing between Warlord’s Ruin and Deep Stone Crypt as your only farming options, you’ll simultaneously access Spire of the Watcher and Last Wish alongside them.

Strategic Farming Advantages

This expansion represents a monumental shift for dedicated loot hunters. Guardians pursuing specific weapon rolls or activity-specific titles now enjoy dramatically increased opportunities. The dual-rotation system effectively cuts waiting time for desired activities in half.

Seasoned players should prioritize activities based on their current gear needs. Focus on dungeons offering missing exotic catalysts or raids containing essential armor pieces for your buildcrafting requirements. The doubled availability means you can target multiple objectives within the same weekly reset period.

Common mistakes include spreading attention too thinly across too many activities. Instead, concentrate on two primary targets each week to maximize mastery and efficiency. Remember that while farming opportunities doubled, your available playtime likely remained constant.

Advanced Farming Tactics

Advanced Guardians should develop rotation-based farming schedules. Track which activities appear together and plan several weeks ahead. This foresight allows you to prepare loadouts and team compositions specifically tailored for upcoming featured combinations.

Optimization begins with understanding drop mechanics. Some activities have knockout systems for exotics, while others operate on pure RNG. Research each raid and dungeon’s specific reward structure to avoid wasting runs on content that won’t benefit your current goals.

Coordinate with your fireteam to maximize efficiency across both featured activities. Consider splitting focus—some members farm one activity while others tackle the second, then share relevant loot through cross-character trading where possible.
